Twelve Ordinary Men of the Bible – Wednesdays 6-7 pm

Led by Hunter Bowie and Mark Hoffman

Jesus chose ordinary men–fishermen, tax collectors, political zealots–and turned their weakness into strength, producing greatness from people who were otherwise unremarkable. The twelve disciples were not the stained-glass saints we imagine. On the contrary, they were truly human, all too prone to mistakes, misstatements, wrong attitudes, lapses of faith, and bitter failure. Simply put, they were flawed people, just like us. But under Jesus’ teaching and touch, they became a force that forever changed the world. During this small group study for men, you will learn that disciples are living proof that God’s strength is made perfect in weakness.

Bible Study with Pastor Ken: Book of Job – Wednesdays 6-7 pm

Led by Pastor Ken Timmerman

Called: Hearing and Responding to God’s Voice — Wednesdays 6-7 pm

Led by Amy Rogers

Throughout the Bible, God interrupts the lives of ordinary men and women, calling and empowering them to lives of service they never could have imagined on their own! Join this 7-week Bible study to discover how to hear and respond to the unique call God is placing on your life through the stories of ordinary people found in the Bible. Called will examine the lives of Abraham, Samuel, Esther and Mary Magdalene, Jonah, and the beloved disciple. The same God that called these unlikely characters calls you, too, to bring hope and transformation to the world.

Finding I Am Women’s Bible Study – Thursdays 10 am

Led by Missy Cario

This 7-week study explores the I AM statements of Jesus found in the Gospel of John. Join this group to trade feelings of emptiness and depletion for the fullness of knowing who Jesus is in this in-depth Bible study. As a group, we will affirm our understanding that Jesus cares about us in times of deep, spiritual wrestling, but He also wants to step in and see us through them.

Sunday Chats – Sacred Parenting: How Raising Children Shapes Our Souls – Sundays 5:15 pm

Led by Jay and Mandy Costa

The journey of caring for, rearing, training, and loving our children will profoundly alter us forever. Instead of exploring how parents can change their kids through discipline, this 7-week study guides participants through an exploration of how God uses our kids to change us. Join this Sunday evening conversation to discuss how other parents handled the challenges and difficulties of being a parent and how their children transformed their relationship with God. This study is video-based with a study guide. So, bring your teens to youth group on Sunday evenings and stay to join other parents for this “Sunday Chat”.

Disciple 1 New Testament – Tuesdays 6 pm

Led by Margaret Downs.

Disciple 1 is a program of disciplined Bible study aimed at developing strong Christian disciples. This 12-week study is the second half of Disciple 1 with an emphasis on the New Testament as part of the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God. This study draws upon the work of scholars, the personal Bible reading and study of the participant, and dynamic group discussion to aid understanding of the Bible. Disciple I Old Testament is not a prerequisite for participation in Disciple I New Testament.

Hey, Mama, In Christ, You Are Enough – Tuesdays 10 AM

Led by Roseann Jordan

Hey Mama, this 7-week small group is for you to explore tales from the trenches with practical pointers and scriptural insight that will remind you that your greatest calling as a mom isn’t to live up to a name, but to point your children to the One whose name is above all names. Join this group of moms for a time of reflection that will show you that you don’t have to be the perfect mom, but that in Christ, you are enough. The conversation with one another will remind you of who you belong to, no matter what season of motherhood you find yourself in. You are invited to know Jesus more and to trust Him more deeply as you navigate being a mom.

Learning Seminar about the United Methodist Church: Q&A with Pastor Ken – Wednesday, October 23 @ 6 pm

Led by Pastor Ken Timmerman.

Who are United Methodists? Who are the people of the United Methodist Church? What do United Methodists believe? What do United Methodists do? And how does John Wesley United Methodist Church serve as part of the United Methodist Church? Join Pastor Ken for an informal Q&A session to explore the past, present, and future of the United Methodist Church.

Because of Bethlehem: A Small Group for Advent – Starting Wednesday, Nov. 13.

There will be several small groups led by different church members.  All will meet on Wednesdays 6 pm.

Come together as the membership of John Wesley UMC to share in this 5-week celebration of the birth of the Messiah. This study will be offered in several small groups simultaneously during WNO from 6:00-7:00

No one expected the Messiah to come the way he did. Yet, the way he came was every bit as important as the coming itself. The manger is the message. Because of Bethlehem, God knows what it’s like to be human. Because of Bethlehem, when we talk to him about tough times, he understands. He’s been there. He’s been here. Because of Bethlehem, we no longer have marks on our record…just grace. Join us in the midst of your hectic Christmas season for a 4-sessions where you will revive your wonder that the One who made everything chose to make himself nothing for us. You can rekindle your connection to the Christ of Christmas who offers lasting hope and help yourself to lay down your endless Christmas to-do list so that you can receive what Jesus has already done. Let this Advent Season heal your heartache by embracing the God who is always near you, always for you, and always in you. This 5-week study is video-based with a study guide.
