John Wesley offers many ways for people to share their blessings with others. Please join us and reach out to others who need help this holiday season.
Advent Mission Day is December 16 – 9-11 AM
This is our annual Advent Mission Day for December. Choose among the four projects listed below and decide how you can help. To participate and sign up for one or more of these projects, check out our page on Sign-up Genius.
Saturday Servants
Pack sack lunches in the LMR at John Wesley and help deliver them to the Blessing Boxes in and around West Ashley. Outreach will provide all the items for the sack lunches. Meet at John Wesley at 9 AM to pack lunches and then deliver them on December 16th.
Christmas Dinner in Blessing Box
Come pick up a gift card and the address of a Blessing Box to deliver a non-perishable Christmas dinner to an assigned Blessing Box a couple days leading up to Christmas. Outreach will provide the gift card for the dinner and assign you a Blessing Box. Please pick up the gift cared between 9-11 on December 16th.
Cookies and Christmas trees for Shut-ins
Drop off store bought Christmas cookies on Friday, December 15th at the church at 9 AM. Or help deliver cookie tins and Christmas trees to the shut-ins from John Wesley on Saturday, December 16th at 10 AM.
Homeless Blanket Bundles
For Adults — Purchase a fleece blanket and fill it with hygiene products, hat, gloves, and protein bars. Roll the blanket up. Blanket rolls can be dropped off to John Wesley UMC on Friday, December 17th between the hours of 9-11 AM.
For Children — Come to the church at 10 o’clock on December 16th to help put together blanket bundles to be given to homeless children in our area. Outreach will provide all the idtems.
Shoebox for Jesus Birthday Party
This mission is for the kids! Fill and wrap a plastic shoe box (wrap the lid separately) with toys, hygiene products, kid socks, and non-perishables. Please label the box with gender and age. We will collect the boxes at John Wesley on December 16th from 9-11 AM. They will be delivered to the Without Walls Ministry for the Jesus Birthday Party on Christmas day.
