Welcome to our new senior minister, Rev. Ken Timmerman. Pastor Ken has served as a Methodist minister for 38 years.

A native of Graniteville, SC, he graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in history and later graduated from Lutheran Seminary with an M.Div. John Wesley is his first church in the Charleston District. Prior to his current appointment, Ken was pastor of the Lexington United Methodist Church.

Over the years, he has served churches in Greeleyville and Lane, Fairfax, Gramling, Myrtle Beach, Greenwood, Cheraw and Lexington.

He has one son who is a student at the College of Charleston. Pastor Ken’s interest include sports, golf and reading.

Steve Gaither

Associate Minister


Associate Pastor Steve Gaither comes to John Wesley from Wesley United Methodist Church in Hartsville, SC.

Rev. Gaither is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. He has served in the Charleston, Columbia, Rock Hill, Marion, and Hartsville Districts as a local church minister. He is retired after twenty-five years in the UMC and twenty years in the United States Navy Submarine Force.

Rev. Gaither is married to the Rev. Sara White, pastor of Hibben UMC in Mt. Pleasant and a former pastor of John Wesley. He has three grown children living in Louisiana and Washington D.C. He is originally from Florida, but has made South Carolina his home for over forty years.

He has served on various boards and agencies in South Carolina at the Conference and District levels and is currently the convener of the South Carolina Conference Board of Global Ministries.
